The Apostles’ Creed

The Apostles’ Creed is the foundational creed of Christian churches. It has received this title because of its great antiquity and most of the creed dates from the early 2nd century. The creed was apparently used as a summary of Christian doctrine for baptismal candidates in the churches of Rome. Though many churches and Christian Communities throughout the ages have different interpretations of the Bible, and embrace various doctrinal nuances, the essence of what the Scriptures teach is found in the words of the Apostles’ Creed.

Therefore, we have fellowship with other members of the Body of Christ who profess their faith as follows:

The Bible

The Bible, comprising 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, truth without error is God's Word to humanity, inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is infallible, trustworthy, and relevant to our lives.

One God

We believe in one God:

God exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each equal in power and authority.

The Father

God is the all-powerful, all-knowing creator of heaven and earth, who is good, loving, compassionate, and faithful.

The Son

Jesus Christ is both fully human and fully God. He reconciles humanity to God through His perfect life, death, and resurrection.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit assures believers of their relationship with Christ, guiding them into truth, convicting of sin, comforting, empowering and making them more like Jesus.

Humankind

Humankind, created in the image of God, both male and female, is the supreme object of His creation. We were created to live in fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through our sinful disobedience. As a result, humankind cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort. Every human is uniquely created, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

Salvation

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, is the only means of salvation through the forgiveness of sins. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in a personal relationship with Jesus through His death and resurrection as sufficient payment for their sins. Salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned through our efforts.

The Church

The Church is a local community of born-again, baptized believers unified through faith in Christ, and we recognize Life Church 425 as part of the larger, universal Church of all Christ followers, past, present, and future. We are committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all His commands in all matters of faith and practice. We are disciples making disciples, seeking to bring the gospel to the world, working together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ.

Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or be joined with God through forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ. To be eternally separated from God is hell, but To be joined with Him in heaven is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.
